Judge Mac Parsons

Mac Parsons was elected to the 10th Judicial Circuit, Jefferson County, Alabama as a Circuit Judge in 1998.

 

Personal

Judge Parsons is a graduate of Hueytown High School. Parsons completed his undergraduate study at Jacksonville State College, and received his Juris Doctor from Birmingham School of Law. In 1967 he enlisted in the US Army Reserve and served with the 926th Construction Engineers until receiving an honorable discharge in 1974.

Parsons and his wife, the former Lucy Crim of Talladega, have two daughters, April and Jennifer.

 

Legislative History

Judge Parsons was elected to the Alabama State Senate in 1978. He beat the incumbent Senator and two other challengers to win the seat. Parsons was appointed Chairman of the Education Committee in 1982. After being re-elected to his fourth term in 1990 Parsons was appointed Chairman of the Judiciary Committee. In addition Parsons was elected Delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1988 and 1992.

 

Judicial History

Judge Parsons began his judicial career by serving as bailiff in the Jefferson County Courts for eight years. During this time he attended the Birmingham School of Law at night and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1976.

In 1998, Parsons was elected as Circuit Judge for the 10th Judicial Circuit, Jefferson County, Alabama. Parsons was re-elected to his second term as Circuit Judge in 2004.

Judge Parsons asked the citizens of Jefferson County to put him to work for them. He did just that. In the past six years Parsons has been assigned over 5,000 cases. Of these 5,000 cases Judge Parsons has disposed of 92% of them.
